Mineral Insulated Metal Sheath Thermocouples
Mineral Insulated Metal Sheath (MIMS) thermocouples were successfully introduced many years ago into temperature measurement technology.
The standard versions are mainly used in the range between -270 °C and +1200 °C. They combine the advantages of high flexibility and easy handling in an extremely wide temperature range. They are supplemented by high-temperature MIMS thermocouples for operating temperatures of 2000 °C and above.
Inconel 600 is mainly used as sheath material, a nickel-based alloy. This material can easily be welded and soldered, it possesses extremely good resistivity characteristics also at higher temperatures and is resistant against most ambient conditions.
Thermocouple is often the type K (NiCr-Ni) acc. to IEC 60584-1. Widely in use are also types L resp. J (both Fe-CuNi) and in the higher temperature range the noble metal types S R and B, which are platinum/rhodium alloys. The thermocouple wires are embedded in a compact insulation of high-purity MgO and enclosed by a metal sheath of a nickel/chromium/iron alloy or of stainless steel. The compact insulation fixes the wires securely so that no damage can occur because of strong vibrations or high bending loads. Also short circuits between the wires or between wire and sheath are virtually impossible.

Type AL - sheathed thermocouples with LINE
In this embodiment, the connecting cable is securely connected and provided with free ends. The transition sleeve can be supplied in the following sizes: 3x20, 4x25, 5x35, 6x50. Other formats on request.
From a length of 50 mm each nominal length (length of the jacket material) can be supplied. Cable lengths are also freely definable. The default is an individually and jointly Teflon insulated, shielded cable used with 0.22 sqmm cross section.
Type AL-RT - sheathed thermocouples with mounting plate
The type AL-RT is an extension of the basic version of the sheathed thermocouple dar. shape, type, design and especially the material of the mounting plate should be specified precisely.
Generally excluded are all high-temperature and precious metal thermocouples and sheath diameter of <0.5 mm.
Type AS - sheathed thermocouples with lead and Lemo connector
The type of ALS is the extension of the AL design a LEMO - Round clutch. This design is according to customer specification or cable diameter with a round clutch or a round plug of the Gr. 0, 1 or 2 provided. Other sizes are available on request.
The contacts are made of brass, gold plated, made or in thermal materials available. The outer body is also chrome plated brass and matte.
Type ALSTE - sheathed thermocouples with cable and connector
The type ALSTE is the extension of type AL to a connector.
This may consist of a miniature connector or standard connector or a connector with gold plated contacts. Miniature - or standard plugs have contacts from thermocouple material. The outer body made of heat resistant plastic.
Type B - sheathed thermocouples with terminal head Form B
The Type B consists
of a measuring insert (TMM) with terminal block clamp terminals, installed in a
terminal head Form B to DIN 43 729 A special pipe holding screw fixes the measuring insert. The nominal length
is specified from the lower edge of the retaining screw connection.

Type S - sheathed thermocouples with Lemo connector
In type S the connector system is directly connected to the sheath thermocouple. The standard version is equipped with a clutch type RLK Gr. 0 (up to 1.6 mm Sheath diameter, about size 1) provided. The positive pole of the thermocouple is connected to the pin of the connector. The contacts are gold plated brass.

Type STE - sheathed thermocouples with TC connector
In type STE plug is directly connected to the sheath thermocouple. The standard version is equipped with a miniature or standard plug. The contacts are made of thermocouple material, the outer body made of heat resistant plastic. Plug and connector are mated with correct polarity, and thus offer an optimal contact reliability.

Type TMM - sheathed thermocouples as measuring insert
Measuring inserts are installed for protection against external influences in protective fittings.
These protection systems incorporate depending on the design neck tubes, pipes, screwed fittings and flanges.
